The Alps Made is an English-language journal of photography and stories from the Alps and Europe. The site is published by MKT Forum Group. You can reach us at hello@thealpsmade.com.
When you open a page, your browser connects directly to Cloudflare, Fastly and Amazon CloudFront. Each of them receives your IP address and standard technical information about your browser, because that is how a page is delivered. Our hosting provider processes standard technical server logs to deliver the site.
If you subscribe to the LE JOURNAL newsletter in the site footer, we store the email address you enter and the date you subscribed, and we use them to send the newsletter. To stop receiving it, use the unsubscribe page or the link in any issue. We keep the address you enter there so that we do not send you the newsletter again.
If you use the contact form, we store your name, your email address, the topic you select and your message, and we use them to read and answer your message.
If you write to hello@thealpsmade.com, we use your email address and your message to read and answer it.
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are read and how visitors reach them. It runs only if you choose Accept in the cookie notice. Until then, no analytics script is loaded. If you accept, Google receives your IP address as part of the connection, together with the pages you view, how far you scroll, how long you stay, whether you start or submit a form, and information about your browser and device. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
The forms on this site are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a form is being used by a person rather than an automated program. Because the newsletter form sits in the footer, Turnstile loads on every page, not only when you submit a form. Cloudflare receives your IP address and technical information about your browser and device for this check.
If you accept analytics, Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_Z15B4W9DY2, which recognise a browser between visits.
Cloudflare sets _cfuvid, which helps it manage traffic to the site. It ends when you close your browser.
Your cookie choice is kept in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie.
Webflow, Inc. hosts the site and stores everything submitted through the forms.
Cloudflare delivers the site and its images and runs the spam protection.
Amazon CloudFront and Fastly deliver a script library and the typeface the site depends on.
Google provides Analytics for visitors who accept it. Google also provides Gmail, which we use for hello@thealpsmade.com, to prepare and send the newsletter and to receive notifications of form submissions, so email addresses and messages pass through Google.
Telegram carries an internal notification when a form is submitted. The notification contains the email address entered in the newsletter or unsubscribe form, or the name, email address, topic and the first part of the message sent through the contact form.
We also keep our own copy of every form submission in files on our own server.
Webflow hosts this site in the United States. Google, Cloudflare, Fastly, Amazon and Telegram operate internationally, so your data may be processed in the United States and in other countries outside Switzerland and the European Economic Area.
We keep copies of form submissions in files on our own server and emails in our mailbox until they are deleted; nothing deletes them automatically. We have not set a fixed retention period. You can ask us to delete your data at any time at hello@thealpsmade.com.
You can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. Write to us at hello@thealpsmade.com. You can also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner or, if you live in the EU or EEA, to your local data protection authority.
